River Miller
is a multimedia and tattoo artist from "Vancouver," BC
River Miller (he/him) is an indigenous and queer artist born, raised, and belonging to q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) ancestral lands in “Langley.” He is currently an uninvited guest working and living on unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, sḵwx̱wú7mesh, & səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Musqueam, Squamish, and Sleil-Waututh) territories in “Vancouver.”
His illustrative imagery often depicts feelings of how he takes up space as a person existing in spaces not made for him. Issues that greatly effect River and influence his work are feelings of mental health struggles, living as a queer transgender person in society, and his connection and disconnection with his indigenous culture.
River creates art as a form of medicine for himself and others. His main form of art is tattooing, as it is the most rewarding way of feeling an emotional connection with those who will have his art forever.
